Earlier this week, speedonthewater.com reported on the Peters & May Unlimited hydroplane’s record-setting achievements, in the capable hands of JW Myers, last week on Coniston Water in England. (Read the story.) When we ran the story we didn’t have a running shot of the hydro in action. Now, we do—and it’s a stunner.
Photographer Anthony Stuchbury definitely captured a fine moment with this one. The quality of light, the muted color of the background framing the vibrant hydro and the stillness of the water contrasting with the rooster tail—all combine to make this one of our favorites since we started our Image of the Week department earlier this year.
On that note, in late December we will publish a gallery of all speedonthewater.com Images of the Week for 2012. Through the Facebook function at the bottom of the gallery, we’ll be looking for your feedback on which is best. The winning photographer will receive a $500 prize sponsored by Pier 57 Marine and speedonthewater.com.
