1,000 Islands Charity Poker Run Opening Sponsor Registration

Taylor Scism of MTI, a returning backer of the annual 1,000 Islands Charity Poker Run in Clayton, N.Y., woke up today with at least one item near the top of her to-do list.

“I literally just opened the link on the event website to have it up on my computer ready for sponsorship,” said Scism, who recently was promoted to vice president of the Wentzville, Mo., high-performance catamaran and center console company.

Sponsorship is crucial to the success of the 1,000 Islands Charity Poker Run, which benefits the Make-A-Wish of Central New York program as well as local charities. Sponsorship opens via the website today at 12 p.m. EST. Would-be backers have opportunities from $500 Friend-level sponsorships to $25,000 Ambassador-level sponsorships.

“I think it is a great event, and not only from an attendee standpoint,” Scism said. “I love what the event does for Make-A-Wish of Central New York.”

General registration for the family friendly happening, which commands the stunning St. Lawrence River, opens March 1.

The owner founder of Mystic Powerboats in DeLand, Fla., John Cosker said he also plans to return as a sponsor.

“It is a fantastic area and event with incredible organizers, beautiful venue with the hotel next to the marina and a caring charity,” Cosker explained. “What more can you ask for?”
