222 Offshore Australia Commitment Brings Pro Class 1 To Eight Teams For Key West

Though the official entry sheet is a week or so away from being posted on the Race World Offshore website, the Key West Offshore World Championships will host the largest Pro Class 1 fleet of the year if current team-owner plans hold. The means as many as eight Pro Class 1 raceboats could be in the mix when the first green flag lies.

A perennial powerhouse in Class 1, the 222 Offshore Australia team has committed to completing in the triple-race event. Darren Nicholson and Giovanni Carpitella will reprise their respective roles of driver and throttleman. The 222 Offshore Australia team’s participation will make up for the loss of the df Young team, which has not competed this season but plans to rejoin the fleet in 2026.

“We are going to skip it and focus on getting the boat dialed in for next season,” explained Rich Wyatt, the owner of the df Young. who is recovering from minor surgery. “I was laid up last week so I enjoyed watching the livestream from Englewood Beach.”

The Defalco and Monster Energy/M CON teams are committed to Key West, as are the MTI Factory  and Pothole Heroes/Alegra Motorsports team. So, too, are the XINSURNANCE North and South teams, as well as the WHM Motorsports team. .
