Cigarette Racing Team Purchases Opa-Locka Properties
Since South Florida-entrepreneur John Ruiz acquired the Cigarette Racing Team brand and manufacturing equipment in Opa-Locka, Fla., three years ago from Skip Braver, Cigarette Racing Holdings has been leasing the production facility and adjacent warehouse from its former owner. Earlier this week, the financial entity finalized the purchase of the properties from Braver.

The recently acquired properties will be developed to expand the company’s production capacity for models such as the 52 Thunder center console, which was introduced in 2023. Photo courtesy Cigarette Racing Team.
The reportedly $16 million purchase brings the total property owned by Cigarette Racing holding to eight acres. The company reportedly will use them to expand its production capabilities and capacity.
The acquisition is the company’s second big move this week. On Thursday, Cigarette also made signifiant news when it named Kurt Bender its new president. A marine industry veteran, Bender has been with the company for three years.
