IHRA Ups The Ante—$2 Million Purse For Offshore Racing In 2026

A new force in offshore powerboat racing, the International Hot Rod Association has announced it will put up a $2 million purse for its 2026 offshore racing series. The Ohio-based organization initially committed to providing $1 million in prize money for its inaugural upcoming season.

The news was released yesterday in a post on the organization’s Facebook page.

At the conclusion of the 2025 Race World Offshore Key West World Championships, the IHRA distributed $250,000 in prize money racers.

Reached by text message this morning, IHRA owner Darryl Cuttell responded, “To build a world-class racing series, the purse must match the level of talent on the water. Consistent, meaningful purses legitimize the sport, empower racers, and set the standard for the future of offshore racing under the IHRA.

“We’re committed to doing the hard work behind the scenes to grow this sport, but none of it matters without the teams,” he contineud. “Supporting them, on and off the water, is essential to building the strong, sustainable future they deserve.”

Details regarding for the 2026 IHRA offshore racing schedule have not been finalized.
