Lake Of The Ozarks Shootout Broadcast Seeks Sideline Reporters

Lake of the Ozarks Shootout fans know the voices of broadcasters Rod Smith and Bob Teague, the veteran duo that calls two days of action during the Central Missouri event. They’ll be back this year, of course, as will on-camera sideline reporters Tristan Garvin, Brad Harrington and Shane Sherman who provide entertainment and insight into everything else off the three-quarter-mile course at the Central Missouri waterway.

The question is: Do you have what it takes to join them? The Shootout broadcast producers are seeking five additional sideline reporters for the August 23-24 event.

Broadcast experience is helpful but not required for the unpaid positions. Shootout and go-fast boating world knowledge and personality are essential.

“We are looking for some fun, energetic people who would like to be a part of the Shootout broadcast team who know the performance-boating world and understand the mechanics of a boat,” explained Leah Martin, the director the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout. “Knowing the various powerboat brands and racers also is helpful.”

Broadcasters Bob Teague and Tristan Collins interviewed Waves And Wheels principal Justin Wagner (center) during the 2024 Shootout on the Strip event backed by Wagner’s company.

The national broadcast/livestream will reach an international audience reaching into the millions

“We are looking for an additional five people to help capture content from all of the events beginning at the Bob Morgan Lake of the Ozarks Memorial Shootout Hall of Fame to the top-speed competition,” Martin added. “Some of the reporting will be down on the dock when racers come in out, in the crowd and on a boat with a camera—fun stuff like that.”
