Reaching the Big 5-0 is always a good reason to celebrate, just ask Eileen Fischer, who was the instigator behind a once-in-a-lifetime year-long celebration in honor of her husband Mark’s 50th birthday.

“Mark and a lot of his friends are turning 50 this year, and we’re also celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary,” Eileen explained. “It started with a trip to Colorado on New Year’s Day for some snowmobiling and, following trips to the Virgin Islands, Cuba, Europe, The Bahamas and more, it will finish with a Caribbean cruise the week after Christmas.
“This year my job has been to pack and repack,” she said with a huge grin. “Seriously, we’ve had several unforgettable experiences—celebrating Mark’s actual birthday (May 18) under a full moon at a rooftop restaurant in Havana was one of them—and that’s the reason why we decided to do all of this.”
Along for the second quarter of the birthday tour from April into June, the owners of the Florida Powerboat Club—Stu and Jackie Jones—described the adventures with their friends, Mark and Eileen, as unforgettable as well.
From Cuba to the British Virgin Islands, Mark and Eileen Fischer and their lucky crew members have enjoyed being part of Mark’s 50th birthday tour.
“For us the birthday fun started with the Porsche poker run we did together in Europe,” Stu Jones said. “It was a 12-day, 1,500-mile event with 10 Porsche 911 Turbos, and everyone had a blast. Shortly thereafter Mark and Eileen brought their 39-foot Deep Impact on the club’s Florida-Havana Powerboat Rally from Key West, Fla., to Havana, Cuba. That trip was amazing—taking the first group of powerboats to Cuba in 58 years really was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.”
