Mystic C4400 to Co-Star with The Rock in ‘Fast & Furious 8’

While it won’t open in theaters until April 2017, the eighth installment in the “Fast & Furious” movie series franchise starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Vin Diesel will give high-performance powerboat owners something special to look at beyond fast cars in furious action. A Mystic Powerboats C4400 catamaran will be among the vehicles showcased in the film’s fictional covert storage facility where all the exotic cars, motorcycles and aircraft are housed. The scenes involving the 44-footer, owned by Vinnie Foglia of Chicago, were shot on a set in Atlanta. Shogren Performance Marine, Mystic’s global dealer, transported the boat to the set and Scott Sjogren, the owner of the McHenry, Ill., boutique brand dealership flew to Atlanta to watch some of the filming. “We got to meet all the actors and actresses, and their hospitality was great and they treated us really well,” Sjogren said. “We were grateful for the opportunity. The boat was positioned at the entrance and exit to the facility, so every time a character takes out a vehicle he has to drive by it. It could be in the film a little or a lot. We don’t know, but we’re grateful for the opportunity. “The film company contacted us—they thought it was the coolest boat out there,” he added. Sjogren said Foglia didn’t mind loaning out his Mystic C4400 for a few weeks. “In fact, he had to miss a poker run,” Sjogren admitted. “But he said, ‘I’d rather skip a poker run and have a boat in the movies.'"
