New Formula 360 Crossover Bowrider Boasts Full Talents Of Designer Michael Young

As Colorado-based John Adams has been gradually pulling back from his decades long tenure as the exclusive designer for Formula Boats of Decatur, Ind., he’s been carefully grooming designer Michael Young to take over the new-model-planning reins. With a body of work that ranges from Formula’s original FAS3Tech sportboat line to the Decatur, Ind., boat-builder’s category-leading Sun Sport and Super Sport lines, Adams set a high bar for his protégé.

The 360 CBR is the latest addition to Formula’s Crossover Bowrider series.

Based on the new Formula 360 Crossover Bowrider, it appears that Young has been paying close attention to his mentor. The 36-footer isn’t “derivative”—it stands on its own. But it does continue the company’s legacy of designing versatile boats with an uncommonly sporty, yet elegant look and feel.

Those qualities and more aren’t simply hallmarks of the CBR series. They’re integral to every line and model Formula offers.

“The Formula 360 CBR is a true blend of entertainment-ready comfort and the exhilarating agility that is rooted in our performance heritage,” Young said in a press release from the company. “I’ve been excited to preserve that unmistakable Formula essence while introducing new features and finesse.

“Alongside the dynamic exterior styling, full-width wraparound dash, and innovative performance venting strategy, I’m especially proud of the reimagined transverse head with full-height shower—a standout feature in this class,” he added.

Variety of stern-drive and outboard engines are offered for the boat.

The 36-footer will be offered with either stern-drive or outboard engines. Twin stern-drive power options from MerCruiser and Ilmor Marine range from 380 to 520 hp. On the outboard side, the 36-footer also can be ordered twin V-12 Verado 600s or triple Verado packages from 300 hp to 400 hp per engine.
