Rare MTI 40 RP Catamaran To Compete In The Lake of the Ozarks Shootout
Spectators and competitors at the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout August 23-34 will get a chance to see a unique catamaran roar down the new three-quarter mile course with the goal of posting a big top-speed. Dubbed Holy Cow IV, the all-carbon-fiber, canopied MTI 40 RP cat will compete during the 36th annual event in Central Missouri. That’s the word from Upstate New York-based owner Kelly O’Hara, who ran the dual Mercury Racing 1100-engine-powered 40-footer last weekend at the Battleship Run on the Empire State’s Seneca Lake as well as the Binks Fun Run for Addiction Awareness a month earlier on North Carolina’s Lake Norman.

The 40-footer will be busy with road trips next month.
“I told Randy Scism I might need a little instruction on how to run the Shootout course,” O’Hara said. “He told that would be no problem. “
Initially owned by the late David Spear of Texas, the four-seaters was the Wentzville, Mo., company first all-carbon-fiber catamaran. For easy access, the top of the canopy is hinged at the front and equipped with power actuators that raise and lower it. The top also can be removed for open-cockpit operation.
BRP Marine Custom of Denver, N.C., spent a year-and-half renovating the cat
The weekend before the Lake of the Ozarks affair, O’Hara’s MTI 40 RP will be on display as part of the Friday night Rock The River Street Cincy Fun Run Street Party in downtown Cincinnati.
