Unlimited Marine Bringing Nor-Tech To Kentucky

For Kentucky’s Dan and Julie Weiss, weekends get no bigger than this one. They woke this morning not just as organizers of the 17th annual Lake Cumberland Thunder Run, which starts today, but as partners in the newest dealership in the Nor-Tech Hi-Performance Boats family. The couple has partnered with Gary and Traci Seeds, who owns Unlimited Marine in Russell Springs., with friends John and Kim Stivers, to bring the Nor-Tech line to the Bluegrass State.

“I think Nor-Tech is one of the best-kept secrets at Lake Cumberland,” said Seeds, who previously owned several new builds from Cigarette Racing Team and half-dozen Nordic Boats models as Unlimited Marine once carried the Arizona-based brand. “Our goal is to change that.

“We have wakeboard and fishing-boat lines, but I have been wanting to bring in a performance line for a long time,” he continued. “This is a great opportunity. We think Kentucky is going to be great for the Nor-Tech brand.”

Unlimited Marine is a certified Mercury Marine and Mercury Racing dealer. Not only does the dealership already have a high-performance boating clientele, it understands customers such as Weiss and his fellow go-fast powerboat owners who frequent the popular lake.

Gary Seeds and Traci Seeds an extensive high-performance boating background.

By the time Weiss, who owns a residential construction company, and then Julie Parent in married 2022, he had already owned his 2012 model-year Nor-Tech 390 Sport center console for three years. Weiss is a true believer in the brand.

“Nor-Tech offers perfect blend between performance and ride and comfort for the variety of boating we do,” he explained. “I think it’s way easier to sell something you believe in, and I believe the Nor-Tech brand.”

That’s essential music to the ears of Nor-Tech co-founder and president Trond Schou. Not only was it crucial for him to ensure the company’s first Kentucky dealership have a solid, brick-and-mortar foundation with service capability and the ability to take trades, it was vital to him that the dealership be driven by owners with genuine passion for the brand.

“Nor-Tech has been looking at the Lake Cumberland for many years, but we wanted the right dealer,” Schou. “We feel that Dan and Julie Weiss and Gary Seeds are a super match. We trust them to deliver the Nor-Tech experience, which feeds into the boating lifestyle embraced by our family of owners. We love the sincerely and passion they bring and we super excited to see them grow this top-notch brand at the lake.”

Weiss first approached Nor-Tech with the notion of a Kentucky-based dealership five years ago and has kept the conversation going ever since. During the third annual Florida Powerboat Club/Speed On The Water Miami Boat Show bash presented by Nor-Tech at the Miami International Boat Show in February,  company chief operating officer Henrik Margård suggested they talk further.

Dan and Julie Weiss head into this weekend ready to carry the torch for Nor-Tech.

Seeds, who has a second home in Cape Coral, visited Nor-Tech headquarters in the same Southwest Florida city a few weeks later.

By June 1—Weiss’ birthday—the terms were finalized. The parties signed paperwork a few weeks later.

So today Dan and Julie Weiss run the 18th annual Lake Cumberland Thunder Run alongside their friend Justin Lucas not only as organizers, but as Nor-Tech dealers.

“Dan has wanted this for a long time and he’s passionate about it,” Julie said. “We’re both excited about it.

“The Lake Cumberland area is going to be a sweet-spot for the Nor-Tech brand,” she added.

For Dan Weiss and his wife, Julie (right center), his June 1 birthday dinner in Cape Coral, Fla., was particularly special.
